My favorite albums of 2007

My music research & acquisition has seen better years. Regardless, here are some albums that grabbed my attention in 2007 (in no particular order):

The Twilight Sad: Fourteen Autumns & Fifteen Winters
Man — these kids. Powerful. Thoughtful. Loud. Beautiful.

Battles: Mirrored
In a recent interview, frontman, Tyondai Braxton, said that the band doesn’t like the term “math rock.” He alluded to the fact that people use that term to describe music that they don’t easily understand — their music. This album is that — not for the faint-of-heart. If you want to be invigorated musically, buy this record.

!!!: Myth Takes
!!! took their unique style to a new level; forming more mature, more succinct compositions that will make you dance your ass off.

Animal Collective: Strawberry Jam
Animal Collective has been a continual breath of fresh air for me since Sung Tongs. This album continues to bring it.

Panda Bear: Person Pitch
I’ll spare you the “Pet Sounds” comparisons. If you enjoy any bit of psychedelia, go buy this record.

Ryan Adams: Easy Tiger
I’ve never really been a Ryan Adams fan. This album changed my mind; songwriting at its finest.

Mark Ronson: Version
OMG — this guy can write some arrangements!!!! Cover songs laden with Motown/Stax flavor; I never thought I could enjoy Amy Winehouse.

Runners up (in no particular order):

No Age: Weirdo Rippers
VietNam: VietNam
Simian Mobile Disco: Attack Decay Sustain Release
Underworld: Oblivion with Bells
Modeselektor: Happy Birthday!
The Good, The Bad & The Queen: The Good, The Bad & The Queen
Radiohead: In Rainbows
Menomena: Friend and Foe

Please don’t write me about (in no particular order):

Justice, Fiest, Of Montreal, LCD Soundsystem, Okkervil River, etc …

Air purifiers are devices employed in homes and business all over the world. Due to the amount of dust etc indoors, air purifiers are used to clean and ‘purify’ the air inside the building, circulating it until it is free from unnecessary particles..”
